Implant crown

An implant crown is the visible tooth-shaped part placed on the fixture after the fixture is ready.

What this service is

Its shape and color are planned to sit beside the remaining teeth. The crown itself is not the fixture inside the bone. If several teeth are being replaced, a bridge or an implant-supported prosthesis may be discussed instead of one crown.

When it may be considered

It is placed after the fixture has enough stability in the bone. If the gum around the fixture is inflamed, the crown is postponed.

The general process

An impression or scan records the fixture position. A shade is chosen and the crown is made. The bite is then adjusted. A temporary crown is sometimes used until the final one is ready.

Care and notes

Clean around the fixture the way the gumline of a tooth is cleaned. The floss or interdental brush the clinic shows is more suitable than forcing ordinary floss. Report looseness or a bad smell around the crown early.
