Replacing missing teeth

Replacing missing teeth means choosing a way to chew and to restore appearance, from an implant to a bridge or a removable denture.

What this service is

No method is best for everyone. An implant does not require cutting the neighboring tooth, but it depends on bone and surgery. A bridge relies on abutment teeth. A removable denture comes out and spreads pressure differently.

When it may be considered

After an extraction, a long-standing gap, or a space that makes chewing or speech difficult. Inflamed gums and decay in the remaining teeth should be seen first.

The general process

The number of missing teeth, the bone, and the neighboring teeth are reviewed. A temporary prosthesis may be made first while the final plan is set. Timing ranges from a simple denture to several months for an implant.

Care and notes

Do not leave a gap to trap food. Clean a removable denture as instructed, and do not sleep with it unless you were told otherwise. If it causes a sore, do not grind it down yourself.
