Gum inflammation
Gingivitis is the early stage of gum disease and is often seen as redness, swelling, and bleeding when brushing.
What this service is
A common cause is bacterial plaque at the gumline. At this stage bone is usually not yet lost, and professional cleaning plus daily hygiene can reverse it. If it continues, it may involve the tissues that support the tooth.
When it may be considered
Bleeding with brushing or flossing, bad breath, or a shiny swollen gum. Pain is not always present. Pregnancy, some medicines, and diabetes can make the gum response stronger.
The general process
Plaque and tartar above the gum are removed, and brushing and flossing are checked. The gum is reviewed again after a few weeks. If pockets or bone loss are present, care goes beyond a simple cleaning.
Care and notes
Keep using a soft brush twice a day and cleaning between the teeth every day, even if a little blood appears. Tobacco slows healing. Mouthwash does not replace floss.
