Decay repair

Decay repair removes the softened part of the tooth and closes the path for bacteria, before the problem reaches the nerve.

What this service is

Decay damages enamel when plaque and frequent sugar are present. At a very early stage, fluoride can sometimes slow it. Once a cavity has formed, a restoration is usually needed. Lack of pain does not mean the tooth is sound.

When it may be considered

A white, brown, or black spot, food trapping, or sensitivity to sweets and cold. If pain lingers or wakes you at night, it may already be more than a simple filling.

The general process

The depth is judged by exam and imaging if needed. The damaged part is removed and sealed with a suitable material. Neighboring teeth are looked at in the same visit.

Care and notes

Brush with fluoride toothpaste twice a day and clean between the teeth. Rinsing immediately after brushing washes the fluoride away early. Cut down frequent sugary snacks.
